WHO IS ALTAR BAYKAL ?

I was born in 1956. A Scorpio by nature. A writer, a dancer, and a man shaped by many lives. To say I lived as two different versions of myself would not be an exaggeration.p> My family has lived in Istanbul since the Ottoman era, honored with a berat from Sultan Abdülhamid II. I grew up surrounded by elegance, culture, and privilege, and received a solid education in Computer Programming at Boğaziçi University. Yet I walked away from the future that had been carefully woven for me. I chose freedom instead — and built my life as a freelance performer in the world of entertainment: dance, massage, and the more spirited corners of nightlife.

Freedom demanded its price; I faced many losses along the way.

But ever since I left my family, I have lived without answering to anyone, shaping a life where I could follow my own desires — always without harming anyone. And as of 2026, nearing seventy, I am still dancing, still performing erotic shows, still an entertainer at heart.

If you want a more intimate description: my life has been a long chain of adventures — always intense, always unconventional. What I cannot tell easily outnumbers what I can by far. To be clear: I have never touched anything illegal, political, or drug-related. In my social life, I have always tried to carry myself as a man of grace and manners.

In short: I am a man who loves people, all living beings — even the non-living — not out of obligation but from the heart. Someone who understands others, forgives most mistakes, values respect, and enjoys being cheerful, friendly, and playful.

Welcome to my story.

My BDSM video clip (Foot fetishism)

In a broadcast from 2024, I’m playfully teasing my audience.

The year was—if I remember correctly—1976. Don’t be fooled by how young I look here; the mark on my left arm is a tattoo I made myself with aniline dye, gunpowder, and a razor blade. There were no tattoo shops back then.

Ergenlikten başlayarak klasik bale eğitimi aldım.

I showed this photo to a conservatory instructor during a preliminary interview at the Istanbul Divan Hotel tearoom, at a time when I dreamed of joining ballet companies. He told me—something I never forgot—‘I’m adjusting your posture in my imagination. And during the exam they later subjected me to at the Kadıköy Municipal Conservatory with a ballet teacher… well, I won’t say I was humiliated, but I certainly hit the ground hard. It may well be that my path toward becoming a stripper was set in motion that very day. I share these stories in my book Daring Confessions of the Male Stripper

I never became a ballet dancer. But I do have one consolation: most of the dancers in that troupe I once admired with envy are now grandparents, while I—somehow—am still dancing. There is nothing wrong with being a retired grandparent; in fact, it is perhaps the most natural, even the most ‘right’ path. But that life was never meant for me. And because I never stepped into a world that didn’t suit me, I consider myself fortunate.

I can’t say for certain when this photo was taken… 1984 seems likely.

I worked as an aerobics instructor for nearly four years.

I organized the first aerobics show in Turkey under the name ‘Sport Dancers,’ hosted at the Etap Hotel.

I took the stage as an erotic dancer and stripper in nightclubs across Turkey and overseas.

In my book Daring Confessions of the Male Stripper, I tell the story of my years in strip clubs, in all their stark honesty—its difficulties, its delights, and the many things gained and lost along the way.

For many years, I worked as a professional dominant, offering structured sessions. 1

A number of my BDSM-themed clips are currently available on select international platforms.

My video clips fall within the realm of erotica, not pornography.

My name, Altar (meaning ‘mihrap’), is often mistaken for ‘a table in a Christian church,’ but that is not its true origin. In ancient Greece, it referred to the stone on which wine was offered to Dionysus before the festivities began.

My surname, Baykal, derives from Lake Baikal, the world’s largest reservoir of freshwater. Containing roughly 22–23% of the planet’s surface freshwater, it is also the deepest and oldest lake known to us.
